Firsthand Supply Hydrating Conditioner
Hold Onto Your Moisture
Conditioners are usually more gentle towards the scalp and hair because they normally don’t contain soaps. However, it can sometimes be troublesome fitting traditional humectants into a conditioner because they make things too watery. In this product, we bring back the HoneyQuat and the Saccharide Isomerate, because they’re such great performers. We also use jojoba oil, which is an almost perfect match for natural hair sebum so the application of the conditioner allows the jojoba oil to soak in very quickly and easily. Unlike most plant oils, jojoba oil doesn’t have an oily or greasy feel; it’s much more a silky/satiny type of feel.
An important part of our moisturizing approach to our conditioner is the inclusion of the cetyl stearate and isostearyl isostearate. These are normally very fatty/oily compounds, but like the jojoba oil, they feel completely non-oily / non-greasy to the touch. They are a type of organic compound named “esters”, and they can form extended structures in water called Liquid-Crystalline structures. These “liquid crystals” help to more effectively delivering water to the skin, and then the two stearate compounds soak into the skin and help replace/reinforce the skin’s natural lipid barrier. This cuts down on trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL), allowing the skin to hold onto more of its natural moisture.
