Appears to be expired, thick coating on top

Was looking forward to getting this balm. Unfortunately, when I received it, there is a thick, dry, hardened coating on top which occupies quite a bit of the product. It is hard to get through, and despite trying, there are hard gummy pieces which mix in and get into my beard. I think this product was expired or sitting too long.
